On March 23, 2024, in collaboration with the University of North Texas (UNT), our company QuantumAstra proudly hosted the “Unveiling Quantum Technology” conference in Texas USA. The event brought together a diverse array of attendees, including university faculty, school district officials, students, city officials, enthusiasts, and speakers from academia, government, and industry. Today, we’re thrilled to share how this conference became a resounding success, igniting inspiration and sparking meaningful conversations about the future of quantum technology.
The Venue: Situated in the heart of the vibrant city of Frisco, Texas, UNT at Frisco’s Frisco Landing campus is a state-of-the-art facility designed to foster innovation, collaboration, and academic excellence. Nestled within the bustling business and entertainment district of Frisco, the campus offers a dynamic environment where education, industry, and community intersect.
Boasting modern architecture and cutting-edge amenities, Frisco Landing provides an ideal setting for learning, research, and professional development. The campus features spacious classrooms equipped with the latest technology, collaborative workspaces for group projects and meetings, and research labs equipped to support a wide range of academic disciplines.
Global Quantum Convergence: The “Unveiling Quantum Technology in Texas” conference transcended borders, featuring speakers hailing from four countries spread across three continents. From North America to Canada, and UK to India, the event truly showcased the global reach and collaborative spirit of quantum innovation.
Exploring Quantum Frontiers:
Throughout the event, attendees had the opportunity to engage in a series of thought-provoking panel discussions, covering a wide range of topics such as quantum computing, quantum communication, quantum sensing, and quantum cryptography. Distinguished panelists from academia, government agencies, and industry shared their expertise, providing valuable insights into the current state of quantum research and its potential applications across various sectors. These sessions, among others, underscored the transformative potential of quantum technology and left attendees inspired by the possibilities of this rapidly evolving field.
Opening Remarks:
Dr. Audhesh Paswan, the Dean and VP Provost of UNT, provided an overview of the event and welcomed attendees to the conference. Jeremiah Anderson, the Director of Innovation at the Frisco Economic Development Corporation (FEDC), introduced the city of Frisco and highlighted its commitment to innovation and collaboration. Keynote:
The conference kicked off with an electrifying keynote address delivered by Lalitha N, Founder and CEO of QuantumAstra, also a renowned expert in quantum science and technology. Her insights into the latest advancements and future prospects of quantum technology set the tone for the day, capturing the audience’s imagination and curiosity.
Building Quantum Computing Industry Use Cases with Amazon Braket
Perminder Singh, the Worldwide Head of Quantum Computing Product at Amazon Web Services (AWS), presented on “Building Quantum Computing Industry Use Cases with Amazon Braket.” Singh’s presentation showcased real-world examples of how quantum computing is being applied in various industry partners, offering attendees valuable insights into the potential impact of quantum technology on business and innovation.
The Quantum Enigmas – ID Quantique:
Dr. Ghislain Lefebvre from the University of Sherbrooke, Canada, discussed “Developing the Pipeline of Talent at Institut quantique.” Dr. Lefebvre’s presentation highlighted the importance of nurturing talent in the field of quantum technology and showcased the efforts being made at Institut quantique to train the next generation of quantum scientists and engineers.
Quantum Education and Skill Development – Panel discussion:
Dr. Ravi Gujjala from the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC), Simon Muskett from Open Quantum, and Rashmi Varma from QuantaWatt participated in a panel discussion on “Skill Gap in Quantum Tech Industry – How to Solve It?” The panelists explored strategies for addressing the growing demand for skilled professionals in the quantum technology industry and discussed the role of education and training programs in bridging the skill gap. Alongside discussions on addressing the skill gap within the industry, panelists delved into the quantum roadmaps of different countries, highlighting the approaches taken by various nations to develop a skilled workforce capable of driving quantum innovation forward. The session provided attendees with valuable insights into the global landscape of quantum education and skill development, underscoring the importance of collaboration and knowledge-sharing in preparing the next generation of quantum scientists and engineers.
Quantum Hardware – QuEra:
Yuval Boger, the Chief Marketing Officer of QuEra, unveiled “QuEra’s Roadmap and the Evolution of Neutral Atom Computing.” During his presentation, Boger captivated the audience by showcasing a number of practical use cases on their device Aquila. These examples demonstrated the versatility and potential of neutral atom computing, offering a glimpse into the diverse applications of this cutting-edge quantum hardware technology. Attendees left the session inspired by the real-world impact of quantum hardware advancements and eager to explore the possibilities of neutral atom computing further.
Quantum Inspired Use cases in optimization:
Alex Khan, CEO – Zebraket, an author and SME specializing in Quantum Computing, discussed “Optimization Use Cases of Quantum Computing.” Khan’s presentation highlighted the potential of quantum-inspired algorithms to solve complex optimization problems more efficiently, demonstrating how quantum technology is driving innovation across various industries. Drawing from his extensive experience in the field, Khan captivated the audience by showcasing a variety of industry-specific use cases where quantum-inspired algorithms have demonstrated remarkable efficiency and effectiveness in solving complex optimization problems.
